This project seeks to understand the appropriateness and applicability of restorative justice processes in preventing and responding to situations of hate and radicalization to violence, with consideration for how
restorative justice might complement existing de-radicalization/violence prevention and response programs, while also not causing further harm. Through a synthesis of existing literature, this research project will provide a
comprehensive overview of restorative justice practices in use in both the prevention of, and in response to, radicalization to violence, compiling a final report of best practices and approaches being used nationally and
internationally. The partner organization will benefit through the receipt of final project report, as well as distributable materials for partners and other stakeholders. Developed materials will serve as a blueprint for
other community-based organizations or social services agencies to use when developing services to prevent and respond to hate and radicalization to violence in their communities.
