Factors Influencing Decision to Adopt (or Not) Electric Outboard Motors by Rowing Clubs in British Columbia

This project aims to explore the obstacles and barriers that rowing clubs in British Columbia face when adopting electric outboard motors for their boats. This research will involve interviews with club managers, directors, coaches, and/or athletes to understand why and how they decide to adopt these electric motors, as well as what supports they would need to accelerate the adoption of electric motors at rowing clubs across British Columbia.
The findings of this research will provide guidance on how to bet support the rowing community’s transition from gas to electric motors and support decarbonization in rowing, which will also reduce noise pollution, a common
complaint from athletes in rowing.
