Immigration policies for students affected by conflict and war

The proposed research project aims to understand the experiences of Ukrainian students who are studying in Canada as the result of the war in their home country. The project will investigate how immigration and education are connected and examine the specific programs and initiatives that have been created to support these students. By conducting interviews with students and administrators from universities in the Greater Toronto Area, the research will provide valuable insights into the opportunities and challenges faced by these students. The expected outcomes of the project are threefold: to gain a better understanding of the relationship between immigration and education; to examine the recent experiences of students from Ukraine at universities in the Greater Toronto Area; and to assess the effectiveness of the programs implemented for these students. The research findings will be published in peer-reviewed, academic journals as well as public-facing reports of relevance will be produced for policy-makers, universities, and immigration officials.
