Knowledge translation tools to promote health behaviour change

Canada is a multi-cultural nation that welcomes immigrants from around the world, many of whom present a high prevalence of chronic medical conditions and its risk factors. To minimize this burden, it is essential that individuals at risk of such diseases are connected to evidence-based health information. Therefore, there is a need for strategies that align scientific knowledge
with health care practice in terms of chronic disease prevention in minority groups. Accordingly, this project aims to create knowledge translation tools to be used in a Canadian chronic disease prevention intervention adapted to Brazilians living in Canada, with an emphasis on health behaviour change. This initiative follows a research priority recently established by the World Health Organization, i.e., the development of health behaviour interventions with individuals from low- and middle-income countries to compare the outcomes with research conducted with populations from high-income countries.
