L2M – Nature Home: Innovations at the Intersection of Housing, Sustainability, and Food Access

The proposed project aims to address housing affordability and sustainability challenges in Calgary by integrating greenhouses with residential spaces. This innovative approach seeks to create energy-efficient homes that also support year-round, culturally sensitive food production. The project will tackle regulatory, technical, and social barriers through participatory design, technical simulations, and engagement with stakeholders such as investors, community organizations, and local authorities. The expected benefit to the partner organization is a scalable and market-ready housing model that meets local demand, sets a new standard for sustainable living, and enhances the organization’s reputation as a leader in innovative housing solutions.
