North Atlantic Organized Track Structure (OTS) Flight Track Planning

The proposed project aims to generate wind-optimal aircraft trajectories for the North Atlantic airspace, which will not only benefit the airlines by allowing them to fly the preferred routes and save on carbon emissions, flight time and fuel costs, but also benefit air traffic by providing safe separation between flights through the use of strategic de-confliction techniques. This approach will lead to an overall improvement in the efficiency of oceanic flights, resulting in benefits for both the airlines and the air traffic management system, largely managed by NavCanada (Canadian Air Traffic Control agency). Additionally, the project also aims to take into account daily variables such as weather patterns through the use of predictive analytics, further increasing the efficiency of the system.
