Obtention de profils génétiques grâce aux polymorphismes d’insertion de rétrotransposons à partir d’éléments pileux avec et sans follicules.

One of the situations that the Forensic Science needs to address is to establish the identity of a human or an specimen from a biological sample. The contribution of this project will be to obtain an optimized method for extracting DNA from hairs with and without follicles and to generate allelic frequencies suitable for use of UNNUL markers in latin american population. The project will also assess whether the successful generation of a genetic profile from follicle-free hair is due to the presence of epithelial cells observed on the outer part of the hair. This will establish a correlation between the quantity of cells, the amount of recovered DNA, and the quality of genetic profiles using INNUL markers. This will integrate microscopic analyses with genetic studies to recover DNA from follicle-free hair, utilizing the techniques and facilities for trace DNA analysis. The information obtained during the internship will enable the development of a protocol applicable in Mexico and other countries to obtain high-quality genetic profiles from hair samples with and without follicles. This will contribute to advancements in forensic science practices, not only benefiting Mexico but potentially serving as a model for other regions facing similar challenges.
