This Mitacs project focuses on evaluating the potential of adapting the novel Hydrothermal Carbonization technology as a suitable waste-to-energy (WtE) technology for various regions. A review of relevant literature has revealed that there is little to no research or comparative study conducted to identify the optimal conditions for energy recovery using the new Hydrothermal Carbonization (HTC) for both food and animal manure combined feed to that of agricultural waste (maize stalk and cobbs). To the best of my knowledge, this research will be novel in this area of study. It will serve as a guiding document, thereby providing additional literature for community, national and international stakeholders with similar types of waste.
