Socioculturally Responsive Classroom Assessment in Science

To support next generation learning, classroom assessment innovations are needed to promote next generation classroom practices and to signal what sociocultural perspectives we value in learning. The summer intern project will focus on applying socioculturally responsive assessment practices to analyze, critique, and refine example assessment prototypes and develop pedagogical strategies to support science learning and instruction. Building off exsiting work on socioculturally responsive assessment frameworks, the project will contribute to operationalizing the assessment practices in classroom assessment development and refinement. In addition, the project will support other strands of socioculturally responsive classroom assessment project, including conducting quantitative analysis of classroom studies as well as qualitative anlaysis of cognitive interviews.
