This research project aims at studying diversity representation on the boards of directors of non-profit organizations in Montreal. Diversity has been proven effective at contributing to better organizational performances. Consequently, it will be interesting to find out if the boards are getting more diverse and becoming more representative of the society.
On the more academic perspective, studying board interlock will allow us to get a better understanding of what are the factors contributing to a more or less diverse board of directors. For instance, if two organizations are close in the network (i.e. sharing at least one board member) are they more likely to have a more similar diversity representation on their respective board?
