The impact of a multicomponent integrated care approach to activity programming on healthcare utilization, quality of life, motor and non-motor symptoms in people with Parkinson’s disease

Parkinson’s disease (PD) is a long-term condition that affects how people move and function in their daily lives. It can be challenging for individuals with PD and their families. To help improve the lives of people with PD, the Parkinson’s Association of Alberta has created a program that includes different activities throughout the day. These activities involve exercises like functional training, boxing, dancing, and singing, as well as reducing the time spent sitting or being inactive.
Our research is focused on understanding how this program can make a difference for people with PD. We want to find out if participating in these activities can improve both physical and non-physical symptoms, and ultimately enhance the quality of life for individuals with PD. By studying the outcomes of this program, we hope to learn how to better support and help people with PD live their lives to the fullest.
