Psychosocial rehabilitation follows the philosophy of “recovery-orientated practice”, centered around the idea of
maximizing wellbeing even while experiencing symptoms of mental illness. Psychosocial Rehabilitation (PSR)
Canada is the only organization with a competency document aimed to promote, standardize, and improve the
delivery of PSR in Canada. This document was last reviewed in 2017 and benefits from continuous validation to
reflect the changing sociocultural context of Canada. A validated competency document with clear criteria for good
quality PSR will encourage more mental healthcare providers to adopt this practice, ultimately benefitting all
Canadians who access health care. PSR Canada will also benefit from the growth and recognition of their services
by more stakeholders in the country. This study will use a Delphi design, which incorporates extensive input into
the final document from stakeholders across the country through interviews, focus groups, and surveys.
