When Indigenous rights and leadership are prioritized, Natural Climate Solutions (NCS) like forest carbon management present an opportunity to advance reconciliation while combatting climate change and biodiversity loss. Wahkohtowin Development GP Inc. is taking steps to drive NCS in the Missinaibi Forest toward Indigenous-led climate action and social-ecological benefits for its owner First Nations (the […]

Learning technologies now exist that give students practice thinking critically and creatively, communicating and collaborating, and gaining an insight into their personal strengths and weaknesses. In the case of a technology called peerScholar, that exercise happens as students give feedback and then learn from feedback effectively. Giving effective constructive feedback and learning from the feedback […]

McGuire Aero Propulsion Solutions (MAPS) is developing a transformative net-zero power generation technology: the micro-power-plant (MPP). The MPP addresses the global need for net-zero, distributed and dispatchable power generation. We are initially targeting industrial and commercial customers using 0.5 to 5 MW through a power-as-a-service offering. The project team will apply their education while developing […]

Computer Vision – Business and AIoT Product Innovation Focus Applying Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning to solve area plot, merging, outlier, and line segmentation problems for use cases with laser scan and point cloud data.

The goal of the project is to expedite STEM learning through creating interactive interfaces and activities simulating experiential learning through a digital platform. The online platform will aligns with various ministry of educational expectations as well as maximize the engagement between students and learning. Key activities include understand why certain methodology in various social media […]

A new atomizer for vaping devices will be studied experimentally and numerically. The visualization of the flow inside the atomizer microchannels and the liquid film formed over to the top surface of the atomizer (with and without surface heating) will be attempted. Aerosol characterization using Phase Doppler Anemometer (PDA) will be conducted. In addition, numerical […]

The proposed research aims to optimize soil model parameters through inverse analysis of deep excavations. Soil properties and their engineering behavior are the fundamental uncertainties among the many influential factors involved in deep excavations. Even though geotechnical investigations are usually conducted, the risks are still high due to the limited amount of soil samples extracted […]

Nowadays, wearable devices attract a lot of attention, especially in the healthcare field. But translating all devices to wearable devices always comes with challenges. Some of the challenges are lack of knowledge about the application of different materials in smart textiles, limitation of developed smart textiles in practical application, no significant dedication in designing clothing […]

To reduce the emission of greenhouse gases, significant efforts have been made to increase the efficiency of gas turbines. Likewise, the use of hydrogen is suggested to replace hydro-carbon-based fuels. To achieve these goals, it is mandatory to use advanced manufacturing techniques to produce the key components of turbines. Laser power bed fusion additive manufacturing […]

Public healthcare organizations continuously struggle to innovate and respond to complex societal challenges and the evolving needs of society. Given the inherent risk and uncertainty associated with translating new innovations into practice, public healthcare organizations face severe challenges on transferring new knowledge of innovations from research into practice. This has led to a “quality gap” […]

In this project, the university and industry researchers will work together to examine ways in which two new, powerful computing technologies, machine learning, and quantum computing, can be combined in order to improve our ability to understand and simulate molecules, chemistry and materials. One of the key challenges that limits improvements to today’s chemical simulation […]
