Business Strategy Intern

Launchtrip is a startup that is focused on event-based travel. Due to COVID-19, they were forced to refocus their efforts regarding launching their flagship product (an innovative travel application) which they plan on releasing in Q1 2021. This internship will entail responsibilities such as business development, market research, and QA – all of which will support Launchtrip’s imminent product launch in these troubling times.

Fluids and Fracture for Video Games

Animated fluid effects based on physical simulation have been a staple part of the visual effects
industry. They are characterized by offline simulation and rendering that produces high-fidelity
dynamics and visuals. As the technology for computer games advances, the opportunity to create
such effects in real-time as either a playback technique or dynamic simulation is becoming feasible.
The Internship will explore the integration of fast methods for fluid dynamics and fracture dynamics to
determine their effectiveness for use in the video game industry.

Business Development Associate

The intern will help the sales and marketing team adjust to the post-covid-19 healthcare landscape by accelerating upstream marketing and beachhead prequalification. This will help us stay ahead of the competition in the US and Canadian market. Core activities include website/digital marketing tasks, sales tasks, competitive database, and value proposition database.

Financial Analyst

The intern will gain significant insight in the development business world. Updated models and documentation for FP&A team to be completed together during the internship. The internship role will include analyzing qualitative aspects of prospective resorts, creating development proformas, budgets, and financial plans, and conduct ongoing market research.

Junior Analyst

I will be working as a Junior Analyst for Beutel Goodman. Beutel, Goodman & Company Ltd. is a privately owned, independent Canadian investment manager that is dedicated to creating long-term wealth for their institutional, private wealth and retail clients by helping them achieve their investment objectives. My role will involve me doing deep dives on companies which includes creating research reports containing a company overview, an industry analysis, a section on risks, a section on governance, a section on valuation, a full financial model, and anything else pertinent

Business Development Representative Intern

At the outset of the pandemic, we increased our liquidity position by reducing mortgage originations. We did this by halting marketing/outreach and reducing our risk tolerance. We are now well-positioned with capital and need to grow mortgage originations. To do so, we would like the co-op students to develop and execute our sales strategy. The business development team is responsible for growing relationships within the mortgage broker community across Canada with the objective of having these brokers submit mortgage deals.

This will be achieved through:
• Executing outbound phone calls/fielding inbound phone calls to educate broker partners on Neighbourhood’s mortgage products
• Collaborating with the team to discuss results from the broker discussions to identify market opportunities
• Data analysis of broker touch-points to assist with lead scoring

Marketing Coordinator

Virtus Groups integrates with high-growth organizations and startups to fill the gaps in people and provide functional capabilities. Customized solutions are developed to meet the client’s business objectives. As an intern, I will support Virtus Groups’ various marketing and business development initiatives including ideation of new marketing strategies, social media management and content creation as well as management of the company’s weekly startup newsletter.

Valorisation de déchets plastiques dans le bitume

Le bitume est un composé essentiel des enrobés bitumineux qui sont utilisés pour la construction de chaussées. Il s’agit d’un produit issu de la distillation du pétrole brut et qui n’est donc pas renouvelable. Il est important de trouver des alternatives à l’utilisation du bitume afin de rendre l’industrie des chaussées plus écoresponsable. Au Québec, certains déchets plastiques (sacs plastiques, films alimentaires…) n’ont pas de filière de recyclage à l’heure actuelle. En conséquence, leur stockage pose problème et ils sont soit enfouis soit incinérés. L’objectif de ce projet est d’évaluer la possibilité de revaloriser ces déchets plastiques en les incorporant dans du bitume. Cela permettrait de répondre à la double problématique de réduire la quantité de bitume utilisé dans la construction de chaussée et de mettre en place une filière de recyclage de ces déchets plastiques. Pour atteindre l’objectif, des essais de laboratoire au niveau de la méthodologie d’addition du plastique recyclé dans le bitume est des essais de caractérisation des bitumes modifiés seront effectués.

Communications and Business Development Intern

For the first 4 months of 2021, I will be joining Customizo Inc. as a Communications and Business Development Intern. Customizo is a partner of ServiceNow and provides ITSM solutions for businesses. My position will involve identifying and contacting prospective clients/companies while learning about ServiceNow solutions and how to assess a companies current IT solution.

First Mining is a Canadian gold developer focused on the development and permitting of the Springpole Gold Project in northwestern Ontario, one of the largest undeveloped gold projects in Canada.
At this point, the extent to which COVID-19 may impact the Company remains uncertain; however, COVID-19 could have a material adverse effect on the Company’s business, results of operations and financial condition. In the first
quarter of 2020, the Company’s employees began to work remotely from home.
Since then, the Company has reopened its office The intern will
• Assist in preparing supporting accounting working papers such as consolidations, bank reconciliations, interest accruals, foreign exchange revaluations, interim financial analytics, and similar month-end and quarter-end financial statement note disclosure working papers
• Assist in preparing tax provisions, tax forms and returns

Hybrid encryption and intrusion detection for an e-commerce database

The recent rapid growth of web-based applications and information systems has increased the risk exposure of databases and, thus, the security and protection of data from internal and external threats is more crucial than ever. Damage and misuse of data affect not only a single user or application, but may have disastrous consequences on an entire organization. The partner company’s database contains sensitive financial transactions information and customers can have direct and immediate online access to business information that pertains to them anywhere anytime. Therefore, the protection of the information database against malicious activity is critical. The proposed project aims at designing a multi-step database security system for an e-commerce application in which we will incorporate the latest advances in database security and machine learning research. Supply Chain MRP Analyst

The current health events have greatly disrupted the supply chain. It is now becoming key for the growth of our company to schedule procurement and production accurately. We plan on implementing an MRP system and put in place Lean manufacturing principles to survive the pandemic.

Anticipated Project Activities
