In collaboration with the CCES we will develop a practical approach to training business and sports ethics—one that enhances students, professionals, and sports participants and leaders’ ability to navigate “how to resolve ethical dilemmas” to minimize social and environmental damage and maintain the integrity of sport. This project aligns with one of the strategic pillars of the new CCES Strategic Plan: to develop ethical sport leadership and identify emerging ethical issues that are threats to Canadian sport, and support stakeholders to respond and develop solutions that address the issues. The multi-stakeholder inclusion (partnership) is necessary to provide situational context for ethical dilemmas that are peculiar to these environments. Although, individuals enter the workforce or sports arenas with an understanding of why unethical decisions are made, and what the consequences could be given these decisions, they lack the ‘how to’ knowledge to resolve ethical dilemmas given the situational context. Therefore, to address this gap, the proposed project will include multi-stakeholder involvement and pursue four key objectives: a. provide a range of decision-making frameworks to assist in ethical decisions, b. develop an “Ethical Dilemma” case library, c. create workshops with supporting materials for sporting organizations and executive training and, d. create an outreach/marketing plan in collaboration with CCES to improve workshop participation of target audiences.
