As part of the research for my MA thesis, I will need to conduct research in archives and collections abroad. I will travel to Ireland and the United Kingdom from the end of June to mid-September, 2019. The information I will retrieve is key to properly developing my research questions, which focus on the Irish […]

The emerging technology company is in a dynamic environment where everything is changing turbulently, not only the actors but also the environment itself. For such emerging companies it is crucial to rely on local innovation communities in order to build and maintain a competitive advantage while balancing a number of paradoxes relater to their involvement […]

With the onset of climate change and an ever-increasing human population, Sub-Saharan Africa faces a three-pronged sustainable development dilemma: how to increase food security while also conserving biodiversity and reducing social inequality. Given the importance of agriculture in Sub-Saharan economies, agricultural intensification and expansion will likely comprise the main course of action to address food […]

RealTerm Energy is developing an AI-based solution for predictively optimizing HVAC (heating, ventilation, and air conditioning) systems in smart buildings. A substantial component of this solution is a data analyzer which will mine an enormous dataset to model the operational behaviours of the buildings in different locations around the world. Based on enormous datasets collected […]

This research aims at improving theoretical financial markets models in order to account for the presence of informed traders in a contemporary setting. Despite the fact that privileged information has always been present in various shape or form, theoretical models seemed to be able to account for such informational asymmetry and provide ways to measure […]

This project focuses on considering uncertainties in hydrological models to obtain Groundwater Storage variations (GWS) during the period of April 2002 to June 2017 based on the availability of Gravity Recovery And Climate Experiment (GRACE) gravity data over Canadian Prairies. Moreover, we extract all components of groundwater signals in this area using the least square […]

Global Navigation Satellite Systems (GNSS) augmentation techniques such as differential GNSS and real-time kinetic (RTK) positioning have been critical for GNSS accuracy and usability. In a typical scenario, the correction data is streamed to a device in the field (rover station) from a reference (base) station. However, as the number of devices that rely on […]

D-Wave Systems develops and manufactures quantum annealing processors. These processors implement a model of quantum computation that seeks to solve hard problems by exploiting quantum effects such as tunneling and superposition. The aim of this project is to study and improve the performance of quantum annealing processors by mitigating inherent and implementation-dependent failure mechanisms for […]
