La raison d’être de ce projet est de mettre au point un outil d’aide à la décision pour les décideurs politiques en matière de sécurité alimentaire. Pour cela, une approche multidisciplinaire et transversale est cruciale. En effet, les systèmes alimentaires se composent de multiples acteurs, ayant des expertises, des contraintes et des capacités variables dans le temps et l’espace, formant un tissu complexe. Ma formation multidisciplinaire en environnement, abordant les aspects agronomiques, politiques, environnementaux et juridiques constitue une base solide pour apporter un regard complet et approfondi sur ce sujet. De plus, ma volonté d’intégrer toutes ces composantes dans une approche systémique correspond parfaitement aux enjeux et aux attentes du stage, qui tout en me donnant le temps et les moyens de mobiliser mes connaissances me permettra de développer mon expertise dans ce domaine particulier de la sécurité alimentaire.

Consultant

The project is to rebrand Alberta Chambers of Commerce’s Business Apprenticeship Program and set a marketing plan across social media platforms. The organization has worked to advocate for local chamber members by leading discussions on business issues. The project will enhance Alberta Chambers of Commerce’s presence with the new branding and marketing strategies to represent a growing number of community chambers of commerce, which represent the business interests of over 24,000 members in all the Federal and Provincial electoral districts.

We provide services for our clients, the pharmaceutical companies, in all forms of advertising to communicate about new products or services to the physicians and patients.
Significance of the project
We often help bring new innovative treatments and drugs to the attention of the physicians and patients which allows for new and possibly life-extending or saving possibilities. We work on important launches and projects with very time-sensitive tasks that need to be met for our clients and their needs.

Business Analyst at Randoli Inc.

The overall goal of transitioning from a consulting delivery model to a product-based company will be accomplished by first building a business plan that contains a detailed roadmap for Randoli’s new product, including competitive analysis, pricing strategy, marketing strategy, and financial models.
The first objective revolves around conducting effective research to complete competitive market analysis. I will achieve this by researching the industry’s main competitors’ websites, using online market analysis tools, market reports, and high-quality market research resources available for Queen’s University students. For instance, IBISWorld covers Canadian, U.S. and global research reports from different industries including the technology enterprise and business software sector. These reports can contribute with key statistics and information on the market characteristics, competitive landscape, current and forecasted financial performance, among other useful market insights.
The second objective is to build financial models in order to understand Randoli’s cashflow, revenue and cost models, and R&D expenditures to support the engineering efforts. The resulting financial model will help the company as a decision-making tool to estimate the overall costs. My competencies are aligned to the financial needs of the project, in my experience in the investment banking industry as a financial analyst, I built several firm valuations TOBECONT’.

Business Strategy Internship at Randoli Inc.

Randoli is focused on helping customers migrate and modernize their applications using cloud-native technologies. Their mission is to break down the barriers to cloud adoption. Randoli is transitioning from a consulting/bespoke software delivery model to a product based company. This transition will allow Randoli to scale faster and thrive in light of the new business conditions imposed by Covid19. As a Mitacs Intern, I will be completing a series of strategic objectives (go-to-market plan, business cases, CRM implementation, financial modelling, research) in order to help Randoli scale and launch new products.

Bunker de la science – Stage SSE FSA UL

Le Bunker de la Science est une entreprise innovante dans le secteur de l’éducation scientifique. En 3 ans, nous avons construit un lieu unique en son genre et réputé pour la qualité de ses jeux immersifs et éducatifs. L’entreprise a des visées de croissance à l’extérieur de la région de Québec. La pandémie a forcé la fermeture de nos installations pour une durée indéterminée. En cherchant une façon de transposer nos jeux sur le web, l’équipe a développé une expertise dans la fabrication de jeux en immersion virtuelle photographique à 360 degrés. Le stagiaire devra aider l’entreprise à élaborer une stratégie qui permettra d’utiliser cette nouvelle expertise afin de démocratiser la culture scientifique partout dans le monde.

Project Delivery Associate

AltaML is a product development company that builds applied artificial intelligence/machine learning solutions across multiple domains. We partner with forward-thinking customers to access unique data and to identify industry problems worth solving, and then scale the solutions into noncompeting markets. This project will involve the setup of projects in our Project Management platform, the maintenance of project dashboards and status reports, the creation of business requirements documents and process flows, as well as the creation of business reports. Working with clients and internal teams to identify solutions to challenges and roadblocks that come up will also be an important part of this project. It will be of benefit to us by assisting us in partnering with organizations to have them lean into their digital transformation and AI strategy to adjust to the new environment and to gain an edge. This project will increase capacity in project delivery and resource management.

Multi-modal learning of human pose representation for conditional motion synthesis

The goal of the project is to generate realistic human movement in 3D animations. This is important to make movement animations in games and movies appear real. Typically, creating high quality animations is a resource and time consuming process that requires the participation of human actors in motion capture sessions. In this work, we present a data-driven approach that aims to generate novel animations based on a library of past motion capture recordings that can make generating high quality animations low cost and fast by eliminating the need to record human actors. Our proposed method leverages state-of-the-art machine learning algorithms and Unity’s high-quality motion capture data to generate 3D human movement.

Apport de la physiothérapie sur la douleur chronique et sur les limitations fonctionnelles, chez la clientèle de 65 ans et plus vivant en centre d’hébergement et de soins de longue durée (CHSLD)

La douleur chronique impacte négativement la mobilité fonctionnelle (se lever, se retourner, etc.) et est, entre autres, classée comme un déterminant de morbidité et un prédicteur de mortalité chez les aînés. La physiothérapie a l’expertise pour la gestion de la douleur et la prévention des incapacités physiques. Or, les soins de physiothérapie ne font pas partis de la prise en charge conventionnelle des bénéficiaires en CHSLD. La physiothérapie mise sur la mobilité physique comme agent de traitement de la douleur, agissant ainsi du coup et sur celle-ci et sur l’autonomie fonctionnelle. Le stagiaire aura donc à colliger les interventions pertinentes de physiothérapie spécifiques aux 65 ans et plus; les inclure dans des outils sur la médiation interprofessionnelle qu’il élaborera; outils visant la gestion des tensions interprofessionnelles en préalable de l’introduction de la physiothérapie en CHSLD. L’organisme partenaire; le CIUSSS, voit l’avantage dans ce projet d’améliorer les soins de ses clients.

Characterization of a Biolubricant Based on Sulfated Polysaccharide Derived from Brown Algae

Lubricant is the substance used to decrease the friction generated between the two surfaces undergo relative motion. There are many applications for naturally occurring lubricants in medical field to improve a patient’s quality of life. Fucoidan is one of the naturally occurring lubricants that has the potential of reducing adhesion after an abdominal surgery. ARC Medical devices have developed an advanced manufacturing process to produce ultra-pure fucoidan that’s more suitable for clinical application. Additional understanding on how fucoidan provide its excellent adhesion reduction properties for hydrophilic surface is still required. Therefore, the current project is not only to study the optimal application range of ARC Medical’s fucoidan but also to determine the underlying cause for the excellent lubricating properties fucoidan provided under an aqueous environment.

Mitacs BSI Program

In this project, we will examine the current state of large-scale multi-party projects in BC Canada. We will explore the possibility of re-imagining our approaches to infrastructure project delivery that addresses the need for more consistent performance and inclusive participation in these highly complex projects.

County of Lennox & Addington

The County of Lennox & Addington is an upper-tier municipality located in Eastern Ontario. Their offices are located in Napanee, ON. The Lennox and Addington Economic Development Office is a team of Economic Development professionals who focus on improving the economy of the County. They provide business coaching to help their businesses succeed, encourage new business development, and attract visitors and residents to ensure a strong and diversified economic base. COVID-19 has created many challenges for the businesses and economy of Lennox and Addington County.

While the pandemic has been very difficult, the County is confident that it will result in new economic opportunities for Lennox and Addington County. The community needs to be prepared and ready to adjust and adapt to the realities of a restructured business model. For example, many businesses in traditional sectors were not prepared for a large shift to online and e-commerce business, which has resulted in a disproportionate effect on revenue. Additionally, with many Canadians fearful about travel, residential attraction and tourism have suffered greatly in pivoting. This MITACS opportunity will allow us to respond appropriately and implement new projects and opportunities.
