Although the electric guitar has widely been valued as a vehicle for musical expression, many of the efforts that have been carried out to bring the instrument up to date with the era of digital music fail to capture that richness. Attempts at creating interfaces based on the guitar using either sensors or analysis of […]

This research project will combine computational modeling, machine learning (ML) algorithms and whole-brain neural recordings (magnetoencephalography, MEG) to shed light on how the mechanisms underlying dynamic decision making are implemented in the human brain. Specifically, we will use the statistical framework of information theory to characterize inter-areal neural coupling and the direction of information flow […]

To share music with others can prove to be a challenge. Throughout time, humans have managed in different ways. First, it was transmitted orally. The downside of it is that the receiver must be physically present in order to capture the information. With the apparition of musical notation around 1400 BC, the previous requirement is […]

Unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) have become increasingly used in the fields of data collection, surveillance, and search and rescue missions. For many UAVs, knowledge of the instantaneous wind speed and direction and overall wind field are of interest, as this knowledge can help better control the position and orientation of the UAV in heavy wind. […]

Medieval nuns were supported by a wide range of people, including lay sisters and brothers who performed much of the physical and manual work of the convent. Yet scholarship has long ignored these members of the monastic community. My research attempts to address this gap by focusing on lay sisters and brothers in fourteenth- and […]

The research project will look at how EndPoverty Edmonton has engaged with the diverse Indigenous population that lives in Edmonton on their interests and perspectives on eliminating poverty. Indigenous peoples and communities continue to experience social and economic inequality as compared to other Canadians. Their social and economic inequality can be linked to the impacts […]
