The objectives of this project to analyze existing products in the proposed categories and create a better designed product by eliminating the gaps found during phases 1 & 2 of the research. Development of a new prototype and testing it in order to confirm functionality, thermal comfort and aesthetics. The final stage of this project is to analyze prototype field testing data and implement modifications and improvements. Identifying and examining gaps in garments designed for cooling purposes in different clothing categories.

This project seeks to create a plant-based salmon fillet that rivals the real thing. To-date, we have been able to make many prototypes that are close to the texture and appearance of real fish. Still, there is room for improvement. Our present innovations are now patent pending. Our fish fillet is made from a number of different plant-based proteins and hydrocolloids that are used collectively to create fibres using a process called directional freezing.

In major metropolitan areas, multi-unit residential buildings (MURBs) are becoming the main housing form. This research is devoted to design, analyze and manufacture a composite initially curved wing-stabilizer of eVTOL LimoConnect.

The proposed research aims at overcoming the issues with oat hulls waste management by developing green processes for its conversion to higher value chemicals. The intern will be investigating hydrothermal extraction and microwave assisted hydrolysis system for the extraction of hemicellulose and its conversion to arabinoxylan and furfurals. Laser Interstitial Thermal Therapy (LITT) is a minimally invasive neurosurgical procedure that uses an MRI-guided laser fiber for selective heat destruction of brain tumors. LITT is the only option for patients with inoperable brain tumors. LITT causes prolonged opening of the blood-brain barrier (BBB) and blood-tumor barrier (BTB) which allows immune cells to passage from the blood into the brain and brain tumor tissues. This ability of LITT to induce a temporary leakiness of the BBB/BTB may offer new applications of LITT in immunotherapy.

To address the global concerns regarding climate changes and increase of earth temperature, carbon dioxide emission has to be removed/reduced. A major source of Co2 emission is transportation vehicles, which account for close to 30% of Canada’s greenhouse gas emissions. An active method to reduce this significant contribution to global warming is electrification of transportation vehicles. Battery operated vehicles are the cornerstone of automotive electrification. To improve the efficiency and safety of these batteries, structural durability of them must be maintained.

The widespread deployment of portable electronics, electric vehicles and renewable energy calls for high-performance energy storage devices. lithium-metal batteries (LMBs) have triggered tremendous research interests due to the exceptional theoretical specific capacity (3860 mAh g-1) and lowest standard potential (-3.04 V versus standard hydrogen electrode).

Hydrogen is a promising vehicle fuel that emits no greenhouse gases at the end use and can be produced from avariety of renewable and low-carbon sources. However, to provide a useful vehicle range it has to be stored atvery high pressures, with maximum pressures as much as 800 times atmospheric pressure. Fuel stations that candeliver this pressure use a lot of energy and require large, strong, and expensive equipment. This project willinvestigate a promising approach that will reduce both the energy required and the system size and cost for vehiclefueling with hydrogen.

The blown plastic film industry is constantly evolving, and the simpler products of just a few years ago are being displaced by new technical films. Market pressures have demanded a lower cost of plastic film with higher quality and thinner gauges. As a result of these trends, the demand for improvements in gauge control of the film increases dramatically, especially for manufacturers with older generations of equipment.
