Learn MoreL’objectif à long terme de ce projet de recherche est de mettre au point un vaccin universel contre le virus de la grippe. Pour ce faire, nous développerons un procédé de manufacture d’une protéine du virus influenza et tenterons d’améliorer son immunogénicité en augmentant sa complexicité via la formation de nanoparticules. Des essais d’immmunisation et de protection en souris seront effectués afin de valider l’efficacité de ce concept. Le vaccin universel contre la grippe permettra de protéger la population envers toutes les souches du virus de la grippe, incluant les souches pandémiques. De plus, ce vaccin sera produit à faible coût dans des bactéries. Comme la production de proteins recombinantes est le moyen le plus efficace et rapide de production dans le domaine pharmaceutique, il s’agit d’un avantage concurrentiel sur les autres approches utilisées aujourd’hui.
