À cause des températures extrêmes produites par les torches à plasma (de 5 000 à 10 000 degrés Celsius, selon le type de gaz utilisé), le design des torches et des réacteurs à plasma présente des défis technologiques nouveaux pour les concepteurs. La modélisation numérique du jet de plasma et du réacteur de gazéification fournira les données fondamentales requises pour la conception de ces nouveaux équipements.
