Learn MoreNalcor Energy planifie actuellement un projet hydroélectrique dans le bas Churchill, d’un coût prévu de 6 à 9 milliards de dollars. Étant donné l’échelle (plus de 2 800 MW) et la durée de vie potentielle de ce projet, les effets des changements climatiques sur les ressources en eau du fleuve Churchill doivent être projetés. Ce stage représente le point de départ d’une collaboration entre l’Université Memorial de Terre-Neuve-et-Labrador et Nalcor Energy. Pour faciliter ses travaux de modélisation, le stagiaire inspectera les installations hydroélectriques existantes de Nalcor, qui sont dans le même bassin versant, pour recueillir l’information historique, météorologique, géographique et opérationnelle pertinente. Le stagiaire acquerra également une connaissance pratique de UNIX et de FORTRAN et explorera d’autres avenues de recherche.
