Operations & Logistics Specialist

As the Operations & Logistics Specialist, I will help work on the back end to help Londre Bodywear optimize their operations and logistics strategy to be ready to scale the business significantly in 2021. Being a swimwear brand during a global pandemic meant a steep decline in sales initially; the limitations on the ability of Canadians to travel to warm destinations meant a decline in demand for swimsuits. Conversely, US demand continued to grow after the summer began. As the Operations and Logistics Specialist, I will help Londre optimize growth as travel conditions begin to return to normal in Canada this summer, and sales in Canada improve.

Marketing Strategist

The ability to meet prospects face to face has been reduced to almost zero during the pandemic. We need to find a way to efficiently prospect, qualify and set initial meetings with prospects in order to keep the business development pipeline full. Prior to the pandemic the business development did most of the prospecting/initial meetings face to face.

The method in which RecycleSmart prospects for new business has changed due to COVID 19, gone are the days of face-to-face meetings. To keep our new business pipeline full and tap in to the market, we are looking for an intern to analyze the market, competitors, our strengths and weaknesses, and create a go-to-market strategy.

This position will conduct a state of the market research project for an Internet of Things hardware as a service offering in the waste and recycling sector. The goal is to establish a product/market fit for the RecycleSmart IOT product and develop an initial go to market strategy for 2-3 sectors including the smart city and smart building sectors.

Talent and Innovation, Project Manager

As a recruitment agency, during COVID?19 most of our clients paused all hiring. This meant our operations and services were all put on hold until hiring resumed. As our clients and businesses reopen, we are back in business. Unfortunately, we have a lot jobs to fill but not enough members of staff on our team to source candidates and run operations. Angus Hudson would help us succeed and build long lasting relationships with our clients and candidates.

The Post-Pandemic Economic Recovery Plan

The Ottawa Regional Cancer Foundation (ORCF) is currently undergoing a strategic planning process.
· A few challenges facing the ORCF in light of COVID-19 are:
o Decline in donations
o Cancellation of events and related revenue

To help the ORCF adapt to the new economic reality created by COVID-19, we will develop a post-pandemic economic recovery plan in which I will assist with the strategic planning process activities (Stakeholder Survey Outline, Stakeholder Focus Group, Employee Focus Group, Industry Trends). Moreover, I will determine the viability of various business projects, determine the target audiences and develop innovative marketing strategies to address target audiences.

Prototyping of a large-area heater on a PVC membrane with inkjet-printing of silver ink

A novel approach using inkjet-printer will be used for fabricating low-cost and large-area heaters on a Polyethylene terephthalate (PET) substrate, laminated on polyvinyl chloride (PVC) membrane. The PVC membrane with a laminated heater will be used as a de-icing material for roofs in buildings. Silver nanoparticle inks will be printed and patterned to create a unique design that is electrically activated. This project will investigate a method to reduce the printing process time, uniform large-area inkjet-printing, and temporal control the inkjet-printed heater. The acquired information will be used to demonstrate the feasibility of using printed metal lines for large-area heater applications and understand the requirements for designing and implementing the dynamic heater on a flexible PVC substrate. The successful outcome of this project will help further understanding to scale this technology using additive manufacturing approaches and for enhancing the functionality of conventional building materials.

Accounting Intern

Clear Insight provides a virtual CFO service to small and medium sized companies. With the COVID-19 pandemic forcing many companies to shift their business models and work remotely, the demand for such service has dramatically increased. As the Accounting Intern at Clear Insight, I will be helping the company with a variety of finance projects that support both internal and client needs. This will include duties such as maintaining financial records, supporting accounts payable and accounts receivable functions, and collaborating with the CFO to research and file financial records.

Previously, MetaFLO Technologies leveraged face?to?face meetings between its sales team and leads were generated through personal networking at trade shows, conferences, site visits etc… Covid?19 has dramatically changed the way the company needs to operate to continue to grow revenue, so the company has had to shift to digital and increase its level of marketing automation. The intern will be working on a variety of marketing projects that support the customer journey. Customer engagement, acquisition and nurturing will be supported in the form of various marketing campaigns, which include, but are not limited to, social media, e?mail, SEO, SEM, PPC, co?marketing with partners, blogs, video, articles, analytics, case studies etc…

Operator space situation awareness in space object tracking tasks

In the field of space operation and monitoring, there is an increasing need to build space situation awareness (SSA). That is, how well an operator can understand the position and operation of all space objects and satellites. It is critical to organize and present all the data in a proper way to support human understanding of the situation. The current project aims to conduct literature review and help understand what information and knowledge operators need to successfully complete space object tracking tasks, as well as review existing methods that can be used for measuring operator SSA, for the evaluation of the goodness of display designs. Regarding the expected benefit to the partner organization, this engagement will provide a competitive advantage (with respect to usability and human factors requirements) for scaling/market success within Canadian Space sector which is totaled at $5.3 Billion.

Développement des propriétés métrologiques de l’évaluation de la force de groupes musculaires des membres inférieurs et supérieurs par dynamométrie manuelle chez les adultes sains

L’utilisation d’un dynamomètre manuel (DM) est une méthode rapide d’obtenir des valeurs de force musculaire (FM), une variable importante en réadaptation. Toutefois, l’absence de valeurs de référence dont la précision et la reproductibilité sont bien connues chez la population adulte limite grandement l’utilité du DM en clinique. Les objectifs de ce projet sont donc, 1) d’évaluer la précision et la reproductibilité des mesures de FM obtenues par DM et; 2) de comparer la FM entre les hommes et les femmes au travers des âges. L’évaluation de la FM de 17 groupes musculaires sera réalisée chez 50 adultes en santé à l’aide d’un DM selon une procédure standardisée par deux évaluateurs indépendants à trois temps différents, puis les mesures seront comparées. Ces données permettront la mise sur pied de valeurs de référence de la FM chez l’adulte à partir d’un protocole dont les qualités de la mesure seront clairement connues.

Analyse du stress chez l’huître américaine à l’aide de divers outils physiologiques pour le développement de meilleures pratiques de production

Au Québec, la production conchylicole constituée de la moule et l’huître représente un volume annuel de 375 tonnes par an, pour une valeur de 2,8 M$, dont la majeure partie est produite aux Îles-de-la-Madeleine. L’Aquaculture représente donc une activité économique non négligeable pour cette région, particulièrement pour l’huître qui est en plein essor par sa haute valeur ajoutée et un marché bien établi. L’huître représente maintenant 26% de la production conchylicole québécoise. Cette production dépend de l’approvisionnement en juvéniles provenant de producteurs du Nouveau-Brunswick, car la reproduction naturelle aux Îles-de-la-Madeleine n’est pas assez importante pour supporter une filière aquacole. Toutefois, depuis le début de cette activité des phénomènes de mortalité massive sont observés suite au transport. Celle-ci n’est pas associée à des agents pathogènes et ce stress associé au transport nécessite d’être mieux défini ainsi que les outils permettant de le quantifier. Ce stage envisage donc de répondre à ces questions en suivant le comportement, l’indice énergétique et le budget physiologique des huîtres de deux classes de tailles (30 et 60 mm) en provenance de deux régions (Nouveau-Brunswick et l’Île-du-Prince-Édouard) selon les conditions environnementales subies.

Objective neurophysiological measures to define motor function in healthy aging and chronic stroke

Globally, neurological disorders impact over 250 million individuals and of this, stroke makes up the highest demand for rehabilitation (Cieza, 2020). As the prevalence of stroke continues to grow, the number of individuals who experience lasting impairment will continue to increase. We face challenges including the limited availability of health care providers, access to specialized equipment and increasing costs. An emerging field of research has looked at whether we can use measurable signals of brain activity to assess the degree of lost function after a stroke. Electroencephalography (EEG), a method for recording brain activity has proven to be a low-cost, non-invasive and highly portable solution that is ideally suited to address these challenges. This approach could save time and money in stroke assessment and help with the development of new rehabilitation strategies. The purpose of this research project is to evaluate whether a new EEG brain recording tool developed by HealthTech Connex can be used to assess impairments in movements and cognition and to determine whether we can track these measures over time in individuals who have suffered a stroke.

Le projet de cocréation artistique Monarques, au sein duquel s’insère ce projet de recherche, repose sur le besoin essentiel et urgent d’apporter un soutien aux vétérans, aux proches et aux membres des forces régulières ayant servi dans les forces canadiennes qui ont vécu ou qui vivent avec un état de stress post-traumatique, une blessure de stress opérationnel, un mal-être ou un problème de santé mentale. Il cherche à identifier en quoi la méthodologie de la Grande cueillette des mots développée par le Théâtre des petites lanternes contribue au processus de guérison et au mieux-être des populations concernées et participantes au processus d’écriture ainsi que de leurs proches et à évaluer l’impact du spectacle théâtral sur la perception des gens quant au vécu des militaires, au bien-être et au post-trauma.
