Date Changes
To request an update to your internship dates, please use the following form:

Before filling out the form:
Ensure you have confirmed your start date/end date and/or any date changes with your professor.
– Your internship cannot be less than 10 weeks nor exceed 12 weeks in length.
– Internships cannot start later than July 31, 2024.
– You must provide 3 weeks’ notice for any changes. If you provide less than 3 weeks’ notice, there may be delays in processing changes to your health insurance and/or payment schedule.
Special notice for China Scholarship Council (CSC) students: Internships cannot be less than 3 months in length.
– At this time, we are not allowing components of the internship to be carried out virtually for 2024.

Please allow 5-10 business days for processing. 

In order to process your withdrawal, please:

  1. Review the withdrawal policy here: 2024 Mitacs GRI Withdrawal Policy 
  2. Receive written approval from (e.g. email) your host professor to ensure they are aware of your withdrawal and that you complete any outstanding tasks, if applicable.
Once you have completed these steps, please submit the following:
  1. A completed Request for Withdrawal form: 2024 Withdrawal Form

Upon submission, Mitacs will review your request and respond within 5 business days (excluding weekends & holidays).

Please do not book any return flights until you receive confirmation from Mitacs, if applicable.

*Notice for interns whose internship is taking place at Dalhousie University: Mitacs will not be providing health insurance coverage. Please reach out to the international student office for more information.

For interns travelling to: ONTARIO
UHIP – provided by your host institution. Please reach out to the international student office at your host institution for more information. Fees may apply, however, you will be reimbursed for the cost of UHIP.

Need additional coverage?
Mitacs will not provide additional health insurance coverage outside of your internship dates.
If you need additional insurance coverage outside of your coverage period, please see the steps below:

1) Visit www.studyinsured.com/mitacs
2) Click Products
3) Click Visitor to Canada
4) Click Buy Now
5) Fill out the application
6) Submit credit card payment

How to Submit an Events Receipt for Reimbursement 

Forgot to enter your cohort code?
You can add it by clicking on the menu button (top right-hand corner of your screen), clicking “Enrollment Key”, and typing in GRI-2024 there.
