Provided the individual has student or postdoctoral status at their academic institution, they can start an internship at any point in their academic program. They must maintain that status throughout their internship.
After their research proposal has successfully passed the research review, they will receive an email that confirms Mitacs received the partner contribution confirmation. They will also be asked to confirm their start and end dates at that time. Students should not start until they receive the email confirming that Mitacs has received the partner funds. This is necessary to be able to pay the intern on time. ** Note for international travel (to or from Canada), please allow additional time for visa purposes.
