The Team

Rosette Kakese Mukosa, former Mitacs Accelerate International intern through a collaboration between Université de Lubumbashi (Congo) and Université de Montréal, and current master’s student in the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, Department of Pathology and Cell Biology, Université de Montréal

In partnership with Université de Montréal and Mitacs, Congolese student helps develop Bioxy Plus, a breakthrough disinfectant effective against Escherichia coli K12.

As a graduate student at Congo’s Université de Lubumbashi, Rosette Kakese Mukosa travelled to Canada through the Mitacs Accelerate International program to evaluate the efficacy of a disinfectant powder on a harmful strain of the bacteria Escherichia coli. The results demonstrated a significant bactericidal effect, offering a safe alternative to combat bacteria. Having benefited from advice and financial backing for her research, Mukosa has decided to pursue a master’s degree at Université de Montréal.

“Mitacs has offered me an incredible opportunity to contribute to improving food safety. Thanks to this experience, I’m looking forward to continuing my career in Canada and contributing to its advancement.” — Rosette Kakese Mukosa
