To accelerate domestic investment in renewable energy and energy efficiency, dozens of Green Investment Banks have been developed in recent years seeking to leverage public spending with funds from institutional investors, such as pension funds, insurance companies, and private equity firms. The provinces of Ontario, Quebec, and Alberta have all announced Green Investment Bank initiatives.
This research project will seek to answer how are Green Investment Banks increasing institutional investment in the built environment, and what Green Investment Bank interventions are most likely to accelerate the adoption of energy efficiency and renewable energy in Western Canada?
