Embodied Cognition: Poetry, Process, and Alternative Epistemologies

Participating in Mitacs Globalink will offer me the unique opportunity to engage in cross-cultural dialogue with scholars in the historic region of Sarnath, Varanasi, India, at the Central University of Tibetan Studies (CUTS), a unique institution founded by Pt. Jawahar Lal Nehru in consultation with Tenzin Gyatso, the 14th Dalai Lama. I would be working with eminent scholar, Ven. Lobsang Norbu Shastri, Vice-Chancellor (until 2015) of CUTS. Through this research, I hope to further the conversation between the philosophical humanities and the sciences, for the promotion of an interdisciplinary understanding of embodied cognition. This groundbreaking research will inform the future trajectory of my work in writing journal articles, designing university courses, and presenting at international conferences, such as the International Symposium for Contemplative Studies, an annual gathering of the world’s leading neuroscientists, psychologists, educators, philosophers, and contemplatives.
