Learn MoreOver half of the 1.8 billion school-aged children in the world lack access to basic education. The situation becomes worse in war-torn countries as conflicts in the Middle East, and in particular Syria, escalate. It is estimated that over 2.6 million Syrian children have not been in school for over three years. Thus, the proposed research project aims to alleviate this humanitarian crisis by investigating methodologies and best practices for crowdsourcing educational content for children in conflict zones. Through this project, the intern will further her technical skills, as well as obtain a better understanding of innovative educational delivery. The results from this research will provide The Rumie Initiative (partner) a better understanding of Syrian education needs and streamline content creation activities for their digital educational device.
