Mitacs and Tunisia work together to advance international research collaborations

Montreal,QC— Tunisia and Mitacs, a Canadian not-for-profit research and training organization, signed a collaboration agreement today to work together in promoting undergraduate and graduate research exchanges between the two countries through the Mitacs Globalink program.

The agreement was signed by Tunisian Ambassador, His Excellency Dr. Riadh Essid, on behalf of the Tunisian Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research , along with Dr. Lotfi Hassine, Director of the Mission Universitaire de Tunisie en Amérique du Nord (MUTAN), and Eric Bosco, Chief Business Development and Partnerships Officer at Mitacs.

The new partnership will provide opportunities for 15 participants each year from each country to pursue research projects in the other country. Through the Globalink program, Mitacs and Tunisia have committed to promoting research collaboration and by facilitating student mobility, for three years starting in 2016.

Tunisia is a priority partner under Canada’s Global Markets Action Plan and, as part of North Africa, under the International Education Strategy. Mitacs Globalink is a key component of the international education strategy, which was launched by Minister for International Trade Ed Fast on January 15, 2014.
