SNAP Halifax – Up-and-Coming Halifax Researcher Receives Award for Outstanding Innovation

An up-and-coming Halifax researcher has been presented with a prestigious award recognizing his outstanding innovation of creating a miniature, low-cost, high-resolution ultrasound probe that is helping to advance important clinical research.

Andre Bezanson, a 26-year-old PhD student in Biomedical Engineering at Dalhousie University, was awarded the Mitacs Award for Outstanding Innovation – PhD following a nomination by Halifax-based Daxsonics Ultrasound Inc., a state-of-the art ultrasound technology company.

Presented by Mitacs (www.mitacs.ca), a national private, not-for-profit organization that partners companies, government and academia to promote Canadian research and training, the award was formally presented to Bezanson at the 3rd Annual Mitacs Awards Reception in Ottawa on November 19.
