Validating the Critical Thinking Measure

Critical thinking involves the process of using various strategies to work through problems and challenges involving what to believe and how to act (Case & Daniels, 2002). The critical thinking questionnaire (CTM) is a comprehensive measure that assesses the degree to which individuals possess and utilize the five categories of intellectual resources fundamental to critical thinking. The purpose of this project is to work with The Critical Thinking Consortium to collect data and conduct the necessary analyses to determine the reliability and validity of the CTM. The goal of the project is to develop a refined version of the CTM that can be used to accurately measure individuals’ ability to think critically as well as changes in that ability over time.
