Step workshops prove out of this world

While pursuing his Masters in Aerospace Engineering at the University of Toronto, Ali Nasseri understood the importance of developing business skills. He started looking for opportunities to complement his research knowledge and abilities.

Through his University’s Graduate Professional Skills program, Ali heard that Mitacs Step workshops provide business-ready skills to up-and-coming researchers. He participated in nine workshops that helped him develop skills in areas such as project management, team building and entrepreneurship. Specifically, Ali was able to add to his skill set in a substantial way: “The Step Project Management workshops enabled me to qualify for the Project Management Certification.”

When asked if he would recommend Mitacs Step workshops to other graduate students, he said, “Yes, definitely! These workshops provide students with opportunities to develop skills and knowledge outside their research.”

He learned first-hand that Mitacs Step gives students valuable skills to succeed in the business world. Ali Nasseri is now the Executive Secretary with the Space Generation Advisory Council, an international organization that supports United Nations programs on space applications. He was also among the top Mitacs alumni who were chosen to participate in the Canada–Asia 2013 Conference.
