Vancouver, BC — Mitacs is collaborating with governments, businesses, not-for-profit organizations, and academia to develop COVID-19 solutions. Post-secondary researchers have started working on COVID-19 projects, and Mitacs announces that college students can be enlisted to contribute to these projects to accelerate the research development.
Mitacs is connecting resources from the Canadian post-secondary education sector with businesses to rapidly develop solutions to COVID-19. For a limited time, small- and medium-sized businesses (SMEs) responding to federal and provincial requests can address COVID-19 challenges with expedited research project approval and increased funding leverage from Mitacs.
For a finite period to address the pandemic, college students can be added to the development portion of COVID-19 Mitacs projects. They may support development with activities such as coding, prototyping, monitoring cell cultures, managing data, and creating visual presentations of modelling, among others. Incorporating college students in the R&D process will help commercialize products, services, and technologies faster than would otherwise be possible.
