NSBI-Mitacs partnership drives COVID-19 economic recovery solutions

Halifax, NS, July 22, 2020 — To mitigate the adverse economic impacts of COVID-19, Nova Scotia Business Inc. (NSBI) and Mitacs are aligning forces to support businesses and students.

With an investment of $100,000 towards 27 Mitacs internships, NSBI is increasing the access businesses have to research and reducing the standard company-partner contribution required for a research intern’s stipend.

Eligible organizations gain access to collaborative research from interns supported by their faculty supervisors. With partial funding for a 15-week intern, businesses gain unique access to college and university resources. An internship stipend of $15,000 is possible with a $3,750 contribution from the participating business. The funding will be distributed through Mitacs.

The collaboration exemplifies how Mitacs and NSBI are leveraging strategic partnerships in Nova Scotia to support COVID-19 relief efforts.
